The home faithful filling the famous Jerez hillsides will have another hero to cheer on at the Gran Premio Estrella Galicia 0,0 de España as Honda HRC Test Rider, Aleix Espargaro, gets set to return to racing action with a wildcard appearance.
Having retired from full-time racing at the end of the 2024 season, Espargaro began a new chapter with Honda by becoming one of their trusted test riders. Taking part in several private tests, plus the Official Shakedown Test in February, means the three-time MotoGP race winner has been busy over the last few months – the latest of those coming at Valencia’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo alongside Yamaha. But now, the #41 is set to participate in his first Grand Prix since the Solidarity GP – and his first with HRC.
Espargaro will line up alongside Honda HRC Castrol’s Joan Mir and Luca Marini, plus Johann Zarco (LCR Honda Castrol) and Somkiat Chantra (LCR Honda Idemitsu), to make it a five-rider strong field for HRC in Jerez before an important one-day Official Test takes place in Andalusia on Monday the 28th of April.
