Moto2™ returned to action at the Gran Premio Pramac dell’Emilia-Romagna for an intense Friday, with Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) leaping to the top of the standings after clocking a stunning 1:35.386. The Italian was hot on the pace in the afternoon, ending the day in front of Aron Canet (Fantic Racing), with the #44 claiming second position – 0.391s adrift. It was a close field behind Canet, with Italtrans Racing Team’s Diogo Moreira rounding out the top three spots. The Brazilian was a further 0.018s behind – setting 20 laps across Practice 1.

It was a slow start to the weekend for the Moto2™, with the track remaining damp for Free Practice. Alonso Lopez (MB Conveyors SpeedUp) was the quickest rider in the morning session, bringing a confidence-boosting start to the weekend. However, Lopez would not have a strong start to Practice 1 in the afternoon, crashing at Turn 2 in the opening stages of the session – rider ok. It was a strong pace from Tony Arbolino early on, entering the 1:35 bracket before Ai Ogura (MT Helmets - MSI) would steal top honours. The fast laps were left until the final five minutes, with Arbolino edging towards the lap record.
Taking fourth was Fermin Aldeguer (MB Conveyors SpeedUp), who ended the day as the top Boscoscuro rider – adding to the #54’s confidence. Aldeguer finished ahead of the impressive Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team), as the American secured the final spot inside the top five after setting a 1:35.809. Ogura dropped back to sixth after the #79 was unable to find the time needed to reclaim the top spot at the end of the session. The #79 had an incredible save at Turn 16, staying on the machine to end the day ahead of Manuel Gonzalez (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™). Meanwhile, Marcos Ramirez took eighth and capped off a strong day for the OnlyFans American Racing Team.
That lap time could have put @AiOgura79 in P1 🫢

Further back, Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team) and CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team’s Jake Dixon claimed the final spots inside the top 10, with Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in 11th. Vietti will be aiming for redemption this weekend and ended Friday in front of Filip Salac (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) and QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™'s Albert Arenas. Meanwhile, Championship leader Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI) grabbed the final provisional Q2 in 14th position after improving on his final flying lap. One of the riders aiming to improve on Saturday morning will be Lopez after ending the day down in 17th.
Don’t miss any of the action to come on Saturday, with Practice 2 beginning at 09:25 local time (UTC +2) before an unpredictable qualifying gets underway at 13:45 local time (UTC +2)!
