Fermin Aldeguer (Folladore SpeedUp) will start from pole position at the Motul TT Assen after a spectacular run in qualifying. The #54 will aim to close the gap in the Championship this weekend and will start from the perfect position. Alongside Aldeguer on the front row will be Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI), who was able to start ahead of his teammate and Championship leader Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI). The #3 spent the majority of the session at the top of the standings after setting a brilliant time early on. However, Garcia was unable to further improve and will start from third on the grid.
A pretty clear statement 🔝

Arenas through to Q2 as Aldeguer shines
In Q1 it was Albert Arenas (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™), who set a strong lap early on to top the session. Joining Arenas in Q2 is Zonta Van Den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP), Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) and CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team’s Izan Guevara. Once Q2 got underway, there was drama from the word go with separate crashes from Guevara and Somkiat Chantra (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia). Meanwhile, at the front, Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI) was the rider at the top of the timesheets after the first run.
In the closing minutes, all eyes were soon on Aldeguer, who was able to pull off a perfect final sector to steal the provisional pole position by a mere 0.033s. The #54 continued to improve on his next lap and went a further three-tenths quicker – setting a new lap record.

Gonzalez heads the second row
Heading the second row will be the ever-impressive Manuel Gonzalez (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™), who starts from fourth after a great lap which placed the #18 as the top Kalex. Meanwhile, Alonso Lopez rounds out the top five on his Triumph-powered Folladore SpeedUp machine – 0.476s adrift from the pole position. Alongside Lopez will be Q1 graduate Arenas, who used all the extra track time in Q1 to his advantage - leaping up the order to qualify in sixth place.
On the third row after saving a crash at turn five on his last flying lap, Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team), who starts from seventh on the grid after setting a 1:35.873. The Italian starts ahead of Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team), who set eight laps throughout the session and will start the Dutch GP from eighth ahead of last year’s winner Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team), who rounds off the third row of the grid.
