Storia del pilota

Luis Salom developed his talents in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, missing out on the 2008 title by just four points and placing runner-up in the Spanish national championship that same year. In 2009 he joined WRB team to replace Simone Corsi and rode in 12 Grands Prix, finishing in the points five times. His first full season in 2010 saw him riding for the Lambretta Reparto Corse team, placing 12th overall, after which he switched to RW Racing GP. He finished eighth in 2011 and remained with the team for his assault on the Moto3™ World Championship, in which he was runner-up after some terrific performances. This earned him a step up to the factory Red Bull KTM Ajo team for 2013. A fantastic season saw Salom move into the final race as a solid title favourite, having already won no less than seven races. Having led the standings for most of the season, Salom would eventually finish third overall following a dramatic last round. Salom joined forces with eventual 2013 Moto3™ title winner Maverick Viñales for 2014 as the duo moved up to the Moto2™ World Championship, with the Pons HP 40 outfit. Salom was outperformed by his flying teammate over the 2014 season, but in 2015 he remained with the same team as Viñales headed up to MotoGP™ whilst another talented rider, and former rival, Alex Rins joined the Pons team. Salom would end another difficult year in 13th with two top five finishes in Mugello and Barcelona, but failed to score on nine occasions. 2016 saw him remain on Kalex machinery, but with the SAG Team. The 2016 got off to an incredible start, Salom scoring second place in the Qatar GP. Four finishes in the points including two top tens followed. Tragically at the Catalan GP Luis Salom fell during Free Practice 2. He was immediately seen to by medical staff and taken to hospital. Despite the best efforts of the trauma team he passed away on Friday, June 3rd 2016.
