Raffaele de Rosa embarks on a second Moto2 campaign in 2011, this time with the Desguaces La Torre G22 team, as he aims to recover the form which made him 250cc Rookie of the Year in the final season of the former intermediate category in 2009.
The Italian rode the inaugural Moto2 season with the Tech 3 team, but struggled to get to grips with the new 600cc four-stroke category as he made the step up following an impressive previous season in the replaced 250s. De Rosa debuted in the 125 World Championship as a wildcard in 2004 at Donington Park, campaigning a full season the following year. With a best finish of 16th overall (2006 and 2007) the Naples-born talent moved to 250s in 2009, scoring his first two podiums on the way to sixth position in the Championship and Rookie of the Year and earning a ride in the new for 2010 Moto2 class with Tech 3. The campaign proved a difficult one for De Rosa, who experienced a number of crashes and a best result of sixth in Portugal towards the end of the season.
