Putaran pertama Kejuaraan Dunia 2024 bertajuk Qatar Airways Grand Prix Qatar resmi dimulai di Sirkuit Internasional Lusail. Menyambut musim baru, ada sedikit perubahan format pada jadwal akhir pekan balap Moto3™. Free Practice menjadi sesi pembuka, diikuti Practice 1 dan Practice 2.

Rookie of The Year 2023, David Alonso (CFMOTO Aspar Team), mengawali Free Practice sebagai pemuncak timesheet, meski kemudian posisinya digeser oleh Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo). Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets-MSI) lalu menyodok ke urutan teratas. Cukup lama ia mendominasi, sampai akhirnya menduduki P1 dengan catatan waktu 2:04.205.
Rueda merampungkan sesi di tempat kedua dan terpaut 0,168 detik. David Munoz (BOE Motorsports) melengkapi tiga besar. Sementara salah satu favorit Juara Dunia, Alonso, menuntaskan Free Practice pada posisi keempat menyusul insiden kecelakaan yang dialaminya di Tikungan 9. Lalu, urutan kelima diklaim Tatsuki Suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna IntactGP).
Menghuni tempat keenam adalah Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3), diikuti Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna IntactGP). Posisi kedelapan ditempati Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing), dilanjutkan Joel Esteban (CFMOTO Aspar Team) dan Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse) untuk P10.
Moto3™ akan kembali beraksi di lintasan dalam Practice 1 pukul 22.15 WIB.
