Chris Walker began racing in 1994  winning in his first ever race at Mallory Park. In 1995 he finished second in the 250 Supercup and was also crowned British 250 Champion. In 1995 he raced in both 500 and 250 World Championship classes, concentrating solely on 500 in 96. He was unable to make any real impression, however, scoring 2 points in the 500 series in 96 before moving back to British Superbikes in 1997 where he finished second. Walker would finish runner up a further three times in BritainÂs most popular series  culminating in a heartbreaking final round engine blow out at Donington Park which handed the 2000 title to Neil Hodgson.
