Martin undergoes successful injury check-up in Barcelona

The reigning World Champion’s wrist injury is healing well as his MotoGP comeback draws closer

Having seen and heard from Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) at the Americas GP, there is more good news coming from the #1's camp after the reigning World Champion visited Quiron at the Clínica Dexeus de Barcelona for a medical check-up.

Here’s what a statement sent by Aprilia Racing said regarding the reigning World Champion’s promising update:

“Jorge Martin underwent an X-ray follow-up yesterday. The evaluation is positive as a bone callus is clearly visible at the level of the scaphoid fracture. The synthesis screw is well positioned and tolerated, confirming the expected and correct outcome of the surgery.”

A bone callus is what forms around a fracture as part of the healing process, so a positive sign for the #1 as his recovery continues. Over time, the callus ultimately becomes new bone.

Now we wait for more information as the Qatar GP approaches, with Martin confirming he will likely travel to the venue, but his participation is yet to be 100% confirmed. He will undergo another check next week and then will need to also be passed fit to return to action.
