It was the last chance for riders to perfect their setups before qualifying at the Michelin® Grand Prix de France with MotoGP™ continuing to prove itself as the most exciting sport in the world with 19 riders within a second of each other on track. However, at the end of the session, Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) was quickest after a fantastic lap in the final five minutes – set on soft tyres. Viñales set a benchmark time of 1:31.033, which put the #12 0.072s clear of Spanish GP winner Francesco Bagnaia in second after a great morning for the Ducati Lenovo Team with Bagnaia ahead of teammate Enea Bastianini, who rounded out a tight top three.

Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) was in fourth place after briefly topping the time sheets - a further 0.013s behind Bastianini. However, there was drama throughout the session, with Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) rounding out the top five after the #73 suffered a crash at turn eight with 20 minutes on the clock. Alex Marquez was ahead of brother and Gresini Racing MotoGP™ teammate Marc Marquez, with the #93 preparing to battle in Q1 after a tough Friday for the eight-time World Champion.
