Jaume Masia (Leopard Racing) kicked off the first-ever IndianOil Grand Prix of India in convincing fashion as he took the top spot with a 2:00.324. With Moto3™ getting its first taste of the Buddh International Circuit, it was the Brazilian Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets MSI) who got the closest to the Spaniard, just 0.141s away in P2, with the Italian Stefano Nepa (Angeluss MTA Team) rounding out the top 3.

Matteo Bertelle (Rivacold Snipers Team) took well to the new track finishing the session in P4 with his teammate Romano Fenati rounding out the top 5. Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) was 0.453s off the pace as he finished Practice 1 in P6 ahead of Joel Kelso (CFMoto Racing Pruestel GP).
