Alvaro Bautista (Ducati Team) topped Q1 at the Michelin® Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix after setting a quickest time of 1:29.851 to lead second-place Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) into Q2 – the latter beating third fastest Karel Abraham (Angel Nieto Team) by just 0.069.
Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) could only manage P8, which translates into a P18 starting grid for the three-time World Champion.
