Gabor Talmacsi made his Hungarian 125 Championship debut at 14, entering the World Championship as a wild card in 2000 leading to a contract with GP outfit Racing Service. He campaigned in 125 until 2009, taking the title in 2007 after a season long battle with teammate Hector Faubel on the Bancaja Aspar team saw the Hungarian clinch the title at the last round of the season on his rival’s home turf in Valencia. In 2009 Talmacsi moved up into the 250cc class, moving to the MotoGP Scot Racing Team Honda project mid season to debut with an 800cc bike in a last-minute development in Barcelona. Talmacsi’s year with the satellite team saw the Hungarian finish 17th overall, with a best result of 12th place at Donington.
