The first Moto2™ session of the year is over with Fermin Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp) taking the top spot with a 1:58.373 - starting the 2024 season in good spirits. Zonta van der Goorbergh (RW Racing GP) started his year in style, just 0.034 behind, and ahead of Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo). CFMOTO Aspar Team’s Jake Dixon was briefly first but ended the session a further 0.003 behind in fourth position. Manuel Gonzalez (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™) rounded out the top five in the opening Free Practice of the season.

Riders were pushing their Triumph engines from the start while learning the new Pirelli tyres in the opening Moto2™ session of the weekend, with Tony Arbolino (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) demonstrating an impressive front-end save. However, it was not smooth sailing for Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team's Jeremy Alcoba who suffered from a technical issue.
