Biographie

Spaniard Albert Arenas was the runner up in the 2015 FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship and first made an appearance on the world stage in Valencia in 2014 riding for the Calvo Team. Since his successful CEV campaign in 2015 that saw him round out the year with a double win to move up to P2 in the points table, the Spaniard also had a couple of wildcard appearances with Aspar Mahindra in Jerez and Barcelona in 2016 before replacing Alexis Masbou at Peugeot MC Saxoprint. For 2017, Arenas joined Aspar Team Moto3™, and remained there for 2018 as the name changed to the Angel Nieto Team. He took his first two wins in Le Mans and at Phillip Island as he took a big step forward. 2019 started with a 6th place in Qatar, but he missed the next two rounds after a bicycle accident. He returned to the points at Jerez, Le Mans and Mugello, but then faced a losing streak after several retirements. A victory in Thailand was followed by podiums in Japan and Australia. 2020 proved to be his year, as he took the Moto3™ World Championship crown, with three victories in the first five races seeing him take a lead in the standings which he never surrendered, eventually being crowned in Portimao. 2021 saw him jump to the intermediate class, staying with Aspar Team, but the reigning lightweight class Champion couldn’t match some of the fireworks that his rookie rivals, such as Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura, were producing on track, having to settle for 21st overall. With a year’s experience under his belt, Arenas managed to claim P12 in the 2022 Championship. After a change of scenery with Red Bull KTM Ajo in 2023, the '75' would secure his first podium in the intermediate category in Catalunya but couldn't surpass the Top 14 overall. For 2024, Arenas will be piloting for QJMOTOR GRESINI Moto2™.
