Alonso remains at the top as rain arrives on Saturday morning

The Colombian's time from Friday stands as no one improves on Saturday morning in Spain

It was wet conditions for the Moto3™ field on Saturday morning at the Gran Premio Estrella Galicia 0,0 de España, meaning David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) remained at the top of the combined standings after no one improved on their time from Friday. The Colombian’s blisteringly quick 1:43.710 will remain the time to beat heading into qualifying, with the time remaining almost one second ahead of Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) in second. Roulstone had a crash on Saturday morning at turn 13 and is still ahead of Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), heading into qualifying who settled for third position at the end of Friday.

Alonso was also quickest on Saturday morning, taming the tricky wet conditions and improving throughout the session. The #80 ended Saturday morning with a 1:56.619, ending the session ahead of teammate Joel Esteban (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team), who was a mere 0.096s behind. Esteban set 15 laps in Saturday morning’s session, finishing in front of Angel Piqueras (Leopard Racing) on Saturday morning.

However, it’s the dry times that count, with Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) holding onto fourth position ahead of David Almansa (Rivacold Snipers Team), who set a late time on Friday which would prove to be crucial – entering qualifying in fifth. Almansa was the only Honda inside the top 10 and finished ahead of Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports), who was 1.448s away from the top spot after a great start to the weekend from the Aussie. Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI) hopes to repeat last year's success at the Spanish GP after finishing seventh in the combined standings ahead of CIP Green Power's Riccardo Rossi.

David Muñoz remains ninth ahead of Stefano Nepa (LEVELUP – MTA), who rounds out the top 10. Tatsuki Suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) was 11th ahead of Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets – MSI), Esteban, and MLav Racing’s Scott Ogden, who rounds out the top 14 heading into qualifying.

The wet conditions mean that both Leopard Racing machines of Piqueras and Adrian Fernandez will have to fight in Q1 later on. It will also be a tough Q1 for Red Bull KTM Ajo, with Xabi Zurutuza having to fight for a space in Q2 alongside teammate Vincente Perez, who will replace Jose Antonio Rueda for the rest of the weekend.

Next up is the all-important qualifying, which begins at 12:50 local time (UTC +1), so make sure you keep up to date with the action on motogp.com!
