      Silverstone Circuit

      With more than 60 years of history Silverstone has become one of the most prestigious venues dedicated to motorsport. Completely revamped in recent years, a multimillion pound investment saw the completion in 2010 of a first phase of works to greatly improve the venue, making it one of the fastest tracks on the MotoGP calendar and earning high praise from the World Championship riders who enjoyed the new layout. The ‘Silverstone Wing’, a state-of-the-art, multi-million pound complex, became a new landmark at the circuit from 2011, thus adding to already breathtaking facilities at Silverstone.

      The Monster Energy British Grand Prix is a fierce, weekend-long festival of fun. Simply unmissable, think all action thrills, with a smoking schedule of three full days of thundering bike racing, music acts, topped off with so many activities and entertainment, the family won’t know what to choose from.

      Live entertainment kicks off with Basement Jaxx (DJ set) on Friday, Brit Award nominee, Tom Grennan, headlining on Saturday and soul/pop singer/songwriter, Ella Eyre, performing on Sunday. Meanwhile, Monster Energy will be revving up record crowds at their stage with stunt displays, activities, music, and much much more. And, there’s more to see and do in the Entertainment Zone with simulators, live paintings and displays, the Family Zone with games and children’s activities, and the Manufacturer and Trade Village with all the merchandise, apparel, and all the latest bikes you could wish for.

      Silverstone’s first motorcycle Grand Prix was held in 1977, and has been the playground of champions ever since. The UK has produced some of the best riders in MotoGP’s history – Mike Hailwood, John Surtees, Phil Read and Barry Sheene just a few of the Brits who’ve won the hearts of the crowds, and championships!

      Now is always the time to tackle that bucket list! Why not arrive a few days earlier or stay later to drive on the tyre marks of legends? Experience the track for yourself – think Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren to name a few and add to the thrills of the MotoGP.

      And, don’t forget to book your visit to the Silverstone Interactive Museum, a true celebration of the stars, stories and science behind British motor sport. Barry Sheene’s racing motorcycles, including his world championship winning machines, Rossi’s 1997 Aprillia R125 R and helmet, and Vinales 2016 Silverstone-winning machine were all on display for last year’s MotoGP and there will be plenty more two-wheel exhibits to enjoy this year!

      Did you know?

      Silverstone is one of the most famous race tracks in the world. And, it all started in 1947, by a group of friends staging a race on a disused airfield from World War II. That was the birth of Silverstone – and in 1948, the Royal Automobile Club hosted the first British Grand Prix where an estimated 100,000 people flocked to see Luigi Villoresi beat 22 others in his Maserati on a the circuit marked by bales, ropes and canvas barriers.
